Double-page award document, presumably given by a German veterans association shortly after WW2: Urkunde über die Teilnahme am Zweiten Weltkrieg 1939-45 (certificate confirming participation in WW2). It was awarded to Matthias Geier, who was born in 1919 and joined the Luftwaffe in 1937, attaining the rank of Feldwebel. He was awarded the Iron Cross 2nd Class and the Eastern Front Campaign Medal. He fought in Poland, in France and then served on the Eastern Front from 1941 onwards. He was killed on February 3rd 1943, a location is given but I haven’t managed to discern where it is exactly. The certificates measure around 31 x 21cm and are placed in a protective hard plastic folder. Nice imagery on the certificates, with a photo of Feldwebel Geier glued on. The certificates can be easily removed (there is nothing on the reverse, except a pencilled in number). Comes with a very large photo of Feldwebel Geier in dress uniform, with a dagger and a wireless operator / air gunner’s badge. The photo measures 39cm x 29cm. Unfortunately it’s in fairly rough condition, with a foldline along the middle and a couple of tears along the sides.
