WW2 period German “Death Card”, single-pannel, for Johann Herbst, a Gefreiter in an infantry regiment. He was killed in “the mighty struggle against Bolshevism for Führer and country" (im gewaltigen Ringen gegen den Bolschewismus für Führer und Volk) on March 31st 1942, south of the city of Kharkov, which was retaken by the Germans in May 1942.
