2nd edition Wehrpass issued to Hermann Lenz, a resident of Heidelberg. Born in April 1893, his profession is listed as “merchant” (Kaufmann). The entries / stamps indicate that he served as a Gefreiter during WW1, seeing serving in “various formations” (versch. Truppenteilen) from October 1913 to December 1918. He was issued this Wehrpass in mid September 1937 and was deemed fit for “garrison military service” (garnissonverwendungsfähig). He was called up for service in late August 1939, holding the rank of Gefreiter. He appears to have served with infantry replacement regiment 246, seeing service a long the Franco-German border / Westwall defenses (Vorfeldkämpfe zwischen Mosel und Rhein), from October 1939 to November 1939. He took a course in anti-espionage training in August 1939 and was dismissed from service at the Wehrmacht depot in Heidelberg (Wehrkreis Ers. Depot XII). He later received his end of service payment of 50 Reichsmarks. He was deemed fit for service later during the war, but doesn’t appear to have been called up for further service in the Wehrmacht.
