Wehrpass and document grouping for Ferdinand Kocheus, who was a resident of the annexed region of Lorraine / Lothringen (annexed along with Alsace by Germany after the 1940 armistice with France). Includes:

-Wehrpass issued to Ferdinand Kocheus in May 1942, in the town of St. Avold in Lorraine. Born in March 1909, he was called up for service in July 1942, serving initially with 2. Panzer jäger ersatz abteilung 33. In early October 1942 he transferred to a home guard infantry unit, Landeschutz Battalion 381. He was dismissed from service in March 1943, receiving the standard departure payment of 30 Reichsmarks. He was trained to use the standard Gewerhr 98k rifle, as well as the Pak 3.7cm and Pak 5cm anti-tank guns. He appears to have served entirely in Germany / Lorraine. He was deemed fit for service in “tropical climates” in the summer of 1942. Unfortunately the Wehrpass’s cover has been lost, otherwise the pages are legible and undamaged.

-Nazi party membership card (Nationalsozialistische Deutsche Arbeiterpartei Mitgliedskarte), indicating that Kocheus joined the NSDAP on January 1st 1944, obtaining membership number 9 665 412. The card is stamped for Gau Westmark and has the appropriate issuing stamp on the front. No payment stamps glued on to the card.

-Ausmussterungsschein military deferment document, stating that Ferdinand Kocheus, of St. Avold, is no longer fit for active service. Stamped and dated May 1943.

-DAF membership booklet, indicates that he joined the DAF in February 1941. It contains membership stamps from 1942 to late 1944. An entry in the booklet mentions that he was employed in Forbach, a town in German occupied Lorraine.

-Post-WW2 Arbeitskarte (Work card), issued to Kocheus in April 1946. It appears to state that he was unemployed and an invalid. Multiple stamps and entries dated 1946.

Interesting and somewhat uncommon grouping for a French resident conscripted into the Wehrmacht, who later joined the Nazi party.
