ID and medal grouping for 16 year old Luftwaffe Flak Helper Siegfried Meerkötter, wounded in a Allied bombing raid in November 1944. Includes:

-Awards document and Wound Badge in black, awarded to Lw.- Helfer Meerkötter, who was serving with Flak Einsatz Altenbeken 6. / le. Flak Abt. 943. The 6. Leichte Flak Abteilung 943 was part of the 22. Flak Division and Meerkötter was part of a detachment that was assigned to protect an important viaduct around the town of Altenbeken from Allied bombing raids. Interestingly, this viaduct was damaged in two Allied bombing attacks on November 26 and 29, so Meerkötter was presumably wounded in the later of these attacks. The 392nd Bomb Group was responsible for the attack on Nov 29th, nineteen American bombers attacked the viaduct (none were shot down in this raid). The viaduct had been damaged during the November 26th attack, however the Allies lost so many aircraft that this was nicknamed "Bloody Sunday" by some surviving airmen. Flak Helper Meerkötter was awarded his Wound Badge in Black on December 2nd 1944. The award document is signed by a medical officer serving in the military hospital in Paderborn. Shows quite a bit of wear and age, heavy fold line down the middle.

The Wound Badge in Black is in good condition, just slight wear on the front, very minor paint loss. Unmarked reverse.

-2nd edition Wehrpass, issued to Siegfriend Meerkötter in early August 1944. He was born in June 1928, in the town of Lage, Germany. His listed occupation is student (Schüler) and he held a driver’s license (Führerschein kl. 4). He appears to have joined the RAD after recuperating from his wounds, in late December 1944. The Wehrpass isn’t very filled out, indicating that he may not have been called up for further military service after serving as a Flak Helper (and later serving with the Reichsarbeitsdienst). All entries and stamps have been photographed. In good condition, the Wehrpass shows some wear and age, but not fragile or damaged.
