Soldbuch and Wehrpass group for Johannes Henseler, who served as a Zahlmeister (Paymaster) administrative official, basically the equivalent of a junior officer rank (lieutenant), with several Heer medical units from 1940 to 1945. Includes:

-2nd editon Wehrpass for Johannes Henseler, who was born in June 1897, in Koblenz. The Wehrpas was issued in December 1939, Henseler joined the Heeres Sanitätsstaffel Koblenz in Dec 39 and served with them until June 30 1940. He then served with the Orthopädische Verforgungsstelle Koblenz from July 1940 to April 25th 1945. He was given the rank of Zahlmeister (paymaster) in January 1944, a rank equivalent to that of an army junior officer. He would have been in charge of payments made out to men serving in a formation the size of a battalion. He was awarded the War Merit Cross 2nd Class with Swords (KvK II Kl. m. Schwerter) in April 1944. He was dismissed from military service in late April 1945, while serving with Orthop. Versog. - Stelle München (Koblenz was occupied by the Americans in March 1945, he must have transferred to Munich sometime before this occurred). A Wehrmacht stamped note is attached to the first page, certifying that Henseler was dismissed from the military on May 5th 1945. There also appears to be a post-war occupation stamp (Controle) placed on one of the personnel details pages. The Wehrpass is in very good condition, the front cover Adler has been “de-nazified”, some of the stamps in the booklet have also had the swastika blacked out. All entries and stamps have been photographed.

The Wehrpass has 3 documents tucked into its pockets: A 1937 medical certificate concerning an accident that injured Henseler’s leg, a January 1945 travel certificate allowing Henseler’s family to return to Koblenz and a May 1st US occupation document allowing him to return home, interestingly there’s a penciled in instruction stating “Please let him keep his bicycle!”, which I assume he would need to get home to Koblenz from Munich.

-Soldbuch for Zahlmeister Johannes Henseler, it contains a lot of the same information as his Wehrpass (personal details, the military units he served with, etc). The uniform accessories assigned to him are listed, as is his immunization record. Two entries confirm him being awarded the KvK 2nd Class with Swords. He was hospitalized a few times due to illness during his 5 years serving with the Wehrmacht. The Soldbuch contains a DRK (Deutsches Rotes Kreuz / German Red Cross) Personalausweis stating that Zahlmeister Henseler is employed by the DRK as an official in the “medical administrative service” (Beamter im Sanitäts - Verwaltungsdienst), allowing him to wear a DRK armband.

*First page of the Wehrpass has come loose and the photo is missing, otherwise in good condition, no missing pages.
