WW2-period Japanese pilot’s national flotation flag. The flag measures around 78cm x 100cm, made of silk with a 60cm red Himaru (rising sun) emblem printed in its center. It has cotton tie-cords attached to two of its corners. This light weight, easily folded, flag was stored in the pockets of Japanese pilots. The flag is buoyant and meant to serve as a signal for downed airmen. In very good condition, see photos for details.
