Pair of 1930’s German maritime ID booklets, both issued to the same sailor by the name of Heinrich Schoofs. He was born in November 1910, in Duisburg, and began to work as a sailor for the Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen shipping company (one of the largest in the world) in 1930. This grouping consists of Schoofs’ employment service booklet (Dienst-Zeugnisse) and pay / travel booklet. They both trace his service with Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen from the summer 1930 to late 1934. He served aboard multiple passenger ships, including the Göttingen, the Frankfurt, the Remscheid, the Augsburg and the Wolfram. The entries state that he began service as an apprentice (Junge) and later served as a stoker / “coal worker” (Kohlenzieher / Heizer). All of these ships can be found on the online list of Norddeutscher Lloyd Bremen’s ships. Interesting details pertaining to his travels and service aboard these 5 ships, including service length and destinations (he sailed to North and South America, including cities such as Boston and Philadelphia, as well as Africa).

Neat little grouping, in good condition. Not too easy to find, especially as a pair.
