Medal and document grouping for Obergefreiter Adam Lannert, who served in the Luftwaffe ground forces. Includes:

-Eastern Front Campaign medal (Ostmedaille), maker marked 65 on the ring for Klein & Quenzer A.G., Oberstein (desirable manufacturer). Comes with its full length (folded over) original ribbon. Also comes with its award packet, which is maker marked Klein & Quenzer A.G., Oberstein on the reverse, which matches with the medal’s manufacturer’s code. The packet is heavily worn and used, but has a very lived-in look to it.

Comes with the medal’s accompanying award document, certifying the Obergefreiter Lannert was awarded his Ostmedaille on August 8th 1942. Signed by his company commander (with the rank of Hauptmann). The unit stamp is Luftwaffe (L 30004), but I haven’t narrowed down the corresponding unit in which he served. Very nice Ostmedaille grouping, hard to upgrade.

-Pair of Kriegszeitung, small circulation, newsletters. These appear to have been printed by soldiers who had served (or were serving) with a construction detachment in the Frankenthal region. They basically provide updates as to what the members of this detachment have been doing during their military service. Obergefreiter Lannert is mentioned in both of these newsletters. In the October 1940 edition (1st printing), Lannert is stationed in France, along the border with Germany. In the February 1941 edition (3rd printing) Lannert is still in France, though some of his comrades are assigned to supervising Allied POW’s performing forced labour. Neat little personalized items, offer a glimpse of how German soldiers banded together and kept themselves informed.

-Reichsbahn union membership card, dated 1941 for the city of Ludwigshafen am Rhein. Lannert presumably was employed by the Reichsbahn at some point.

-Certificate of discharge, dated May 10th 1945. It mentions that Lannert was born in 1905 and is married with two children. His employment is listed as farmer and mason. His address is in the city of Darmstadt and he is discharged from the airforce (Luftwaffe).

Neat grouping, very complete Eastern Front Campaign medal grouping and some very individualized items included. Lannert may have served with a Luftwaffe construction battalion on the Eastern Front, but I haven’t managed to find out definitively.
