1st edition Arbeitsbuch, issued in February 1936 to Josefine Heuberger. Born in June 1912, she lived and worked in the Saarland region, notably the large garrison town of Idar-Oberstein. The stamps and entries show that she worked for an important construction and road building firm named Sager & Woerner, being employed at one of their offices in the town of Nohfelden in 1939.
This construction firm had a close association with Dr. Fritz Todt, founder of paramilitary organization Organization Todt. He worked as a technical manager for this firm from 1925 to 1933, while the firm was responsible for building highways. Starting in 1938, the Sager & Woerner company was given defense contracts by Organization Todt, mainly building fortifications (the Atlantic Wall defenses, Channel Island defenses, etc). In 1938-39 they would have been working on Wehrmacht installations close to the Franco-German border, in the Saarland region.
