25 German cigarette cards - Deutschland Erwacht, gruppe 31

25 cigarette cards from the series Deutschland Erwacht (photo group 31). Larger format of this series, the cigarette cards measure around 17cm x 12cm. Printed in 1935, they portray the rise of the Nazis and various important events and people from the early years of the Third Reich. All of the cards have been photographed above, see photos for details.

Comes with a double-sided paper insert that specifies that two cards from this series are to be replaced by contacting the printing company by mail. The “canceled” cigarette cards to be replaced may have featured Ernst Röhm or other “undesirable” Nazis who had been purged in 1934. Interesting little addition to the grouping.
