WW2-period, 2nd edition Wehrpass, issued to Wilhelm Kschonek, from Recklinghausen, Germany. Born in 1899, his employment is listed as “Miner” (Bergmann). The Wehrpass has relatively few entries and stamps in it, although it does specify that he was called up for service in January 1938. Interestingly, the section listing his medals / decorations specifies that he was awarded the Spanienkreuz 2 kl. Mit Schwertern (Spanish Cross 2nd class with Swords), a rare decoration given to German troops that served in Spain during the Spanish Civil War (as part of the Condor Legion). Fewer than 8500 of this version of the Spanish Cross were given. He was also given the Cruz de la guerra, the standard Spanish service medal given to those who fought in the war. All entries and stamps have been photographed. Comes with a Feldpostkarte that was tucked into the Wehrpass when I acquired it (see photos).
