Wehprass - WW1 veteran / weapons manufacturing WW2

2nd edition Wehrpass issued to Johann Recknagel in mid-October 1943. Born in December 1891, he was a resident of the town of Meinigen, in Thuringia. He does not appear to have been called up for military service during WW2, although his entries state that he was deemed fit for garrison / homefront duties. Interestingly his profession is listed as “Revolverdreher / Machinist”, indicating that he was working as a machinist in the production of revolvers. The entries state that he served in a fairly prestigious regiment in WW1, namely the Infanterie Regiment Großherzog von Sachsen nr. 94 (Inf. Regt. 94), from mid 1915 to at least late December 1916. This means that he likely fought on both the Eastern Front and the Western Front, including participation in the Battle of Verdun in 1916. His regiment started the war on the Eastern Front before transferring to France in October 1915. In December 1916 they were sent to the homefront for the remainder of the war. Interesting Wehrpass, fairly sparse entries but intriguing that the owner was involved in small arms manufacturing.
