Unpublished photos of Adolf Hitler - Kriegsmarine tour with photographer Hoffmann

Group of three photographs of Hitler touring an unnamed Kriegsmarine ship. One photo measures 9cm x 6.5cm, one is 9.5cm x 6.5cm and one is 10cm x 7cm. They all have descriptions written on the back, presumably written by the owner, a Kriegsmarine sailor / officer. The photos are undated and the ship is not identified. Hitler is clearly visible in two of the photos, he’s hidden in the background of the third photo (blocked by the ship’s captain). The ship’s captain is identified by name, however I haven’t been able to figure out who he is with certainty. 

The message written on the reverse of the photo with sailors in white / summer uniform states that the “Führer, Captain and Professor Hoffmann greet the ‘boys in blue’ with joy”. Heinrich Hoffmann, Hitler’s official photographer, is seen smiling and giving the Nazi salute, with Hitler and the naval captain both grinning. Nice light-hearted image, uncommon to see photos of Hoffmann (he was typically behind the camera, not in front of it…), even less common to see Hoffmann standing with Hitler. Nice Kriegsmarine flag seen flying in the background. 

The message on another photo essentially states that Hitler is receiving a salute from the Sailors, who are in a line. Slightly blurred image of Hitler, though it’s unmistakably him. 

The third photo has Hitler standing behind the ship’s captain, his face is hidden. The captain is demonstrating or speaking about the ship’s Flak / anti-aircraft guns. 

Nice little grouping, great details written on the reverse. Definitely worthy of more research to try and discover who the captain is, which ship this is and when this visit occurred. A chance to own a little piece of history.
