Late period (1938-42) Hitler Jugend (HJ) dagger. Maker marked RZM M7 / 36, indicating that it was manufactured by "E. & F. Horster" in Solingen, Germany. The dagger's blade hasn't been sharpened or damaged, just a few marks and scratches from the expected use. The grip plates are in very good condition, no chipping or damage. The buffer pad is present, the crossguard and pommel show typical wear and pitting. The HJ diamond has the expected design, but unfortunately was chipped and damaged at some point. The swastika in the centre is still very visible and looks good.

The scabbard is not original to the dagger, it shows signs of being post-WW2 manufacture (or it was made late in the war by some local artisan, who knows). The leather, snaps and rivets are definitely old and show expected wear, however the lip on the entrance and the absence of a rivet just below the scabbard entrance are signs that it's not original. Looks good from a distance and displays pretty well, but sadly it's not original.

As a HJ collector, I've studied the dagger closely and it checks out as original. The RZM code is very legible, the grips are good and the blade is in decent condition. A nice starter piece for any HJ collector. It displays very nicely and has the expected, "been there" look to it. Additional photos can be sent upon request.
