Group of 16 WW2-era photos (2 of them, the mortar crew and one of the camel photos, are postwar / modern), all taken in the Kalmyk steppes region of the USSR in 1942. This region was one of the furthest points East reached by German forces, South of Stalingrad. Most photos are taken from a plane, appears to be a Heinkel 111 medium bomber. The reverse has inscriptions written on them, indicating "Kalmischen Steppe" and dates ranging from August to October 1942. Interesting group, presumably taken by the same soldier. The photos measure around 10cm x 7cm each.
