Commemorative Death Card for Simon Hochlechner, an Unteroffizier in a Mountain troops unit (Gebirgsjäger). He was born October 4th 1921 and was killed on the Italian front on September 13th 1944. He may have died in the Battle of Rimini, which began on September 13th.
I tend to collect WW2 German Death Cards that particularly stand out and this card makes mention of him having been awarded the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class (E.K. 1 und E.K. 2), Wound Badges (Verwundetenabzeichen) and the Hitler Jugend badge in gold (which is rarely mentioned on these cards). Nice photo of him in uniform wearing his Iron Crosses.
